About this site
Interactive Gaming Glossary & Briefings is an independent reference site about the language and rules of online gambling in Great Britain. It exists because most explanations of terms like RTP or wagering requirement live on pages whose real job is to sell you a bonus.
Who writes it
Eleanor Whitlock writes and maintains every entry. She has followed UK gambling regulation as a reader of the Gambling Commission's consultations, licence conditions and enforcement notices for several years, and writes about it in plain English. She is not a lawyer, does not work for an operator, and is not paid by any gambling company, affiliate network or regulator. Nothing here is legal advice.
What this site is not
- Not a casino guide. There are no rankings, no "best UK casinos", no bonus codes and no affiliate links. If that ever changes, it will be disclosed at the top of every page that carries such a link.
- Not the regulator. The Gambling Commission is at gamblingcommission.gov.uk. Its public register, not this site, is the place to check whether a company is licensed.
- Not connected to any previous owner of this domain. The address iggba.org.uk was used by a UK online gambling trade association in the 2000s and, later, by an unrelated website about mobile slots. This project has no link to either of them and does not speak for anyone but its author.
How entries are written
- The term is defined in one or two sentences a first-time reader can follow.
- Anything factual — a threshold, a date, a rule number — is taken from the primary document, which is linked at the end of the article.
- Each article carries a "last reviewed" date. When a rule changes, the entry is updated and the date moves.
Corrections
If you find an error, use the contact page. Corrections that change a fact are noted at the bottom of the affected article.
